Dear Fellow Business
Traveler,
It's a brand new year. Time to do something good. For
yourself. For others. Well, why not do them both at the
same time. The best kind of charity is the kind that means
something to us individually. It should be something that you
enjoy and find rewarding. Even though giving is its own reward,
it doesn't mean that you can't choose to do something worthwhile for
others that has some benefit for you as well. In this month's
Newsletter we
talk about charitbale exercise. It's the idea of participating in
a physical endeavor for the good of others. It's a powerful thing
and it's happening everywhere. So, no matter where you travel,
there's a 5k with your name on it.

Most of you have
probably participated in a marathon or triathlon, or even just a 5k or
10k
race. If not, I’m sure that you know
somebody that has. And you probably have
given monetary donations to various charities. Well,
for many years there have been thousands of
people throughout the
world who are doing both. A number
walkers, runners and bikers keep their own passion for competition
alive by
traveling around and competing in select races that support great
organizations. Many of these individuals
raise money through sponsorships, who pledge a certain amount of money
per mile
that is walked, run or biked.
If you’ve never done it,
you really should. Not only are you
helping financially with your entry fee and showing your support by
physically
being there, you are doing something for yourself at the same time by
getting
exercise or even pushing your competitive limits. It’s
the best of both worlds, doing something
you love and helping other people. Helping
someone who may never have been given a chance to even walk, much less
run or
ride a bike...could be a rather powerful place to stand now couldn't it?
Of course you can do
this locally, but it’s even more fun to plan a little vacation getaway
around
it. Spend a couple nights in your
favorite city and take in some sights. Or,
you could even take it to the next level of squeezing in a 5k during
your next business
trip. Why not? Catch
a little later flight. You’ll feel that
much more productive and you’ll
be glad you did.
If you haven’t ever done
anything like this, but you would like to give it a shot either to help
other
people out or to encourage yourself to get in better shape, there are a
lot of
organizations that can get you going. Every
city has running clubs and training groups
just for people like
you. Why not give it a shot? There’s no better way to achieve a
healthier
lifestyle. Especially, when you’re
helping charities that raise money to cure or treat chronic diseases
all around
the world. So,
get out there. If not for yourself, do it
for those who
cannot.
