Travel Fitness: Eat Your Breakfast!

"Your mom was right: Breakfast is the most important meal of the day--especially when you are trying to lose weight. Indeed, people who are successful at losing weight share four common behaviors. They eat low-fat, high-carbohydrate diets, they closely monitor their weight, they are physically active, and they eat breakfast.

"Without access to your own kitchen while on the road, it can be a challenge to find a cafe or restaurant serving healthful breakfasts. [. . .] But don't simply skip breakfast thinking that you will consume that many fewer calories and get a jumpstart on the day's diet. In fact, missing a wholesome breakfast will slow your metabolism as your body tries to conserve energy. [. . .] And when your hunger pangs finally kick in, you may find yourself binging on whatever is available and/or overeating at lunch to try to compensate for the lack of food in your stomach.

"Pass up the bacon and eggs and go straight for the whole grain cereals for breakfast."
