Read the Nutrition Label!
I can't stress enough how important it is to read nutrition labels, especially when you're eating out. One of the main redeeming qualities of chain restaurants is their consistency and most now provide online nutrition information on their web sites.
Remember to check the nutrition content before you dine out! Otherwise, you may find yourself making the same mistake that I did yesterday.
I love tuna--whether it's tuna salad, grilled tuna, or whatever. I usually dine at Roly Poly, where a small tuna wrap is only 309 calories and 4.5 grams of fat.
Yesterday, I was at Panera. I knew their tuna would be somewhat higher in calories because of the extra bread, but I certainly didn't bargain for over 810 calories and 42 grams of fat. Combined with the obligatory chips, that's 940 calories and close to 60 grams of fat! To put this in perspective, consider that I could have had a McDonald's Quarter Pounder with Cheese and a medium fries for "only" 860 calories and 41 grams of fat.
I won't make that mistake again. Neither should you!
