Travel Fit Tip: It's All About Balance
Not gaining weight while you travel is like most things in life--it's all about balance. Balancing how many calories you take in versus how many you expend, in this case.
I found this bit of wisdom from Terry Riley, author of The Complete Travel Diet and owner of TraveLean to be very insightful:
"If you plan to have a rich dessert at dinner, you will have to balance that with especially low-calorie food at some other time of the day when you might otherwise have had a moderate intake of calories. And try to avoid playing this balancing act in reverse: 'I'll splurge now and make up for it tomorrow.' That logic is prone to failure because tomorrow never seems to come.
The above was excerpted with permission from The Complete Travel Diet, by Terry Riley, PhD and owner of TraveLean, a corporate weight management program for business travelers.
